Client Brief:

  • Collaborate with renowned chef Neil Perry to create an Indigenous Australian restaurant in the heart of Sydney.

  • Design a space that feels like an escape from the city, offering warmth, authenticity, and connection.

  • Work alongside Indigenous chefs to celebrate local ingredients, culture, and storytelling.

  • Source furniture and materials from Australian businesses to support local craftsmanship.

  • Transform an existing heritage terrace house into an intimate, welcoming dining experience.

Concept and Design Features:

The Cutters Table reimagines a historic terrace house in Rushcutters Bay into a warm and grounded dining destination that reflects the textures, tones, and spirit of the Australian landscape. The design embraces a natural material palette, featuring rammed earth walls and limestone flooring, creating a tactile and earthy atmosphere that immediately transports guests away from the bustle of the city.

The layout enhances intimacy and flow, with a bar positioned at the front and centre to encourage social interaction, while a private dining room at the rear offers a more secluded and elevated experience. The lighting is soft and ambient, highlighting the rich natural finishes and creating a sense of calm and connection.

The overall vibe is lively yet grounded, blending modern sophistication with Australian authenticity. Guests feel both at ease and inspired — immersed in a space that celebrates community, culture, and cuisine.
